Academy of the City is a public charter school in Queens with an Elementary School and a Middle School. Solved IT designed and installed security cameras inside and outside both buildings, Triton vape sensors in every Middle School bathroom, a new PA system at the Elementary School, and upgraded network hardware at both schools, and we manage the network under the E-rate program.
Inside and outside both schools: 34+ at the Elementary, 47+ at the Middle School
Every Middle School bathroom has a Triton vape sensor, with no cameras in private spaces
New Wi-Fi, switching, firewalls and cabling at both buildings
Ongoing network management under the federal E-rate program
THE CHALLENGE
Keeping two school buildings safe and connected takes more than one system. Academy of the City needed camera coverage inside and outside both the Elementary and Middle School, a way to deal with vaping in Middle School bathrooms without putting cameras in private spaces, a dependable PA system at the Elementary School, and a network strong enough to carry it all, managed in line with E-rate program requirements.
WHAT SOLVED IT DID
Cameras inside and outside both schools
We installed more than 34 Dahua cameras at the Elementary School and more than 47 Hikvision cameras at the Middle School, covering entrances, hallways, shared spaces and the exterior, with a live monitor wall so staff can see the whole building at a glance.
Vape detection without cameras in private spaces
Triton vape sensors are installed in every Middle School bathroom. They detect vaping and send real-time alerts to staff, with no cameras in private spaces. Solved IT is a certified Triton Platinum Partner.
A new PA system at the Elementary School
We upgraded the Elementary School PA system, with speakers in hallways, classrooms and common areas so announcements reach every part of the building.
Network hardware upgrades at both schools
New UniFi Wi-Fi access points, PoE switches and firewalls, plus new cabling, give both buildings a modern network that powers the cameras and keeps classrooms online.
Network management under E-rate
We manage the schools’ network through the federal E-rate program, which helps schools afford connectivity and network equipment.
